Historic Launch: Flights from Palanga Airport to Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada Begin

At the end of September, the tour operator Join UP! Baltic launched charter flights from Palanga Airport to Egypt. This marks the first time that direct charter flights to the country’s most popular holiday destinations are being offered from Lithuania’s seaside region.
These holiday flights are said to open new opportunities for holidaymakers from Western Lithuania and Latvia – from now on, they will be able to reach Egypt directly, without the need to travel via Vilnius or Riga.
In addition to the most popular Egyptian resorts, starting from April 2026, Join UP! Baltic also plans to introduce another new route from both Palanga and Vilnius airports – to Alamein, a resort on the Mediterranean coast.
Flights from Palanga to Sharm El Sheikh are scheduled from the end of September until November 2026. Weekly flights to Hurghada will run from the end of September until the end of May 2026, while flights to Alamein are planned for spring 2026.
“We are pleased that charter flights to Egypt have now started from Palanga Airport. The expansion of holiday charter destinations at this airport has long been an eagerly awaited qualitative change in the travel offering. More broadly, what matters to us is not only the fact of these flights starting, but also the gradual shaping of travelers’ habits and opportunities to increasingly choose Palanga Airport for leisure trips,” said Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports (LTOU).
Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada are among the world’s most popular resorts, famous for their beautiful beaches, the underwater world of the Red Sea, and year-round sunny weather.
